The Truth is NOT Popular

Yesterday, Easter Sunday, I posted something on my Facebook status that generated a firestorm of response. Here's my post:

It is just as much a shame for a church to have an Easter egg hunt as it is to have a Halloween haunted house. Both are pagan and should have no place of celebration in the Believer's life.

"Oh, but it's for the kids."

Bull!

Then you wonder why when your kids grow up they don't want anything to do with the church?

Get a clue! If you blur the lines between Godly and worldly, don't be upset if they would rather spend their time at the bar than at church.

Just saying...
Here are some of the comments I received and my Blog comment :
JLD: I dont agree. My wonderful loving God enjoys sharing his Holiday with the children. And I think it was awfully clever of him to turn a bad day such as "All Hallows Eve" into Halloween... something innocent and fun for children! I egg hunted, and trick or treated all of my childhood, and I am in Church. To say that things like that matter when it comes to keeping people in Church is just ludacris, and not a good representation of what my God is all about. Just sayin....
TB: God is not into the traditions of men,at all.(period) we are the ones that brought a HOLY GOD into our stuff. The scriptures clearly states this...don't take my word for it....look into the scriptures and study what all the traditional pagan holidays mean. God is not in it.

JLD:  God may not care about our traditions, but he doesnt think its wrong. Since when? Where is that in the Bible?
CRC: ‎"You cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons" I Corinthians 10:21

JLD: See how many souls you will win for Jesus by telling people he frowns upon children hunting Easter eggs. Its a shame.
It goes on much longer with "friends" I went to church with as a child getting into the mix. One woman reminded me that as a child I participated in Easter egg hunts after church. She also asked whether I wouldn't let my children participate today. I said "Absolutely not."
Then had a comment from another former church member telling me that the easter egg has everything to do with Easter:

CherylI would like to tell you that the easter egg has everthing to do with the real easter, its' the symbol for the stone rolled away from Jesus tomb.there is a whole story like this from CEFellowship and the gospel book store has things for children on these easter symbol for the real thing. the christmas tree is a symbol for the cross that made the old rugged cross that christ had to carry so that he might die for you and all other christians around the world. Now, I don't know what CEFellowship is, but even if you put chocolate on poop and call it "candy", it's still going to be poop!
