Motive for Prepping

What is your motive for prepping? Why is survival preparedness a part of your life?

The one thing I try to remind other prepping Believers is that as long as you are prepping with the knowledge and intent of using those preps for the Glory of the Kingdom (aka ministering to those the Lord brings to you) then your preps will suffice. Like the widow woman with the cruse of oil who fed Elijah during the 3.5 year famine...the oil and flour never ran out.

I believe if our hearts are right, then we'll see and do the same miracles that Jesus did, even to the five loaves and three fishes. Someone is going to open their last can of chili, normally enough for maybe two people, and that can of chili will stretch to feed dozens, seconds even with some left over in the pot.

We will see fresh water come out of the rocks to quench the thirst of those the Lord is leading to places of refuge. We will see Believers walk out of cities that have been destroyed in nuclear fire, without a hint of smoke or radiation on them (like the three boys in Babylon in the firey furnace).

However...if you are prepping for the intent of surviving, by hook or by crook. I can guarantee that no matter how much you prep it will not be enough. In fact, here's a warning to those who think that by prepping they can in themselves have victory over the Mark of the Beast and the Antichrist without having a relationship with Jesus Christ: It Ain't Gonna Happen!

If you know the Word of God, but have chosen to go your own way and not acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior...then you better get right with the Lord NOW, while there's still time. Because there's coming an endtime transfer of wealth. And I truly wonder if part of that wealth will be the food and other supplies that people like you who are thinking you can outwit and outrun God have accumulated being passed to those Believers who the Angels of the Lord will lead to your location after you have gone to meet your Maker and Judge.

Do not think that by storing a hundred years of food and weapons of every make and caliber that you are going to be able to hunker down and ride out the coming storm. Without the protection of the Most High God it will be for naught. Without knowing how to use the Weapons of Warfare as decreed by the Word of God you will be helpless against the Enemy of your soul. Without Jesus as your strong right arm, your fortress, defense and shield, you will be fodder for the Satanic forces of evil.

You can laugh, but you won't for long. The time that is upon us is going to serve to separate the sheep from the goats, the sheep being those that follow Jesus Christ and the goats being those who think they don't need to bow down to God Almighty.

And for those "Christians" who have treated God like your own Genie in the bottle that you could rub (praise a bit) and He would grant you your wishes/hearts desire...God is NOT interested in your financial prosperity! Yes He will Bless those who serve Him and seek Him first. But many of you are seeking wealth and riches and God is just another avenue to achieve your wants.

If you don't know how to operate in the Authority of the Name of Jesus and how to apply the Blood of Jesus to those situations in life that come against you, then you could be in a world of hurt! The time for seeking financial gain and prosperity has passed. If you don't repent and get into the Word of God, then you could very well hear God say "Depart from Me I never knew you!" How tragic that would be.

For those Believers who are prepping make sure you know what is your motive for prepping.

Is Preparedness Biblical?

Some "Christians" debate whether or not preparedness is Biblical. They are not interested in preparing, it would interfere with their theology of prosperity and treating God like some good luck charm. Their heads are buried in the sand and they justify their position by saying, "Well, I'm just going to trust God to take care of me."

Or they are like those three legendary monkeys: "See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil". Too many Christians see any information that does not "feel good", "promise prosperity or blessing" as evil. How ridiculous!

Have they forgotten Noah? Even Jesus points back to Noah when he's speaking about the end times: "As it was in the days of Noah..." I don't really think that He was simply referring to the wickedness of the times, if that was the case he could have said "as it was in the days before the flood". Instead He mentions Noah specifically. Why? Because "Noah prepared to the saving of his household".

Here are some scriptures that I believe speak directly to the question of whether we should prepare:

Exo 16:5 And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare (make) preparation, prepare (self), provide, make provision, (be, make) ready) that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily. This is very important; They are commanded to prepare on the sixth day. Remember the Word says that "a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day". We are living at the end of the 6000 years and the beginning of the next thousand years of peace. While we're not going to have to worry about anything once the Millennium starts, that transitional period between the 6th day and the start of the 7th day will be a very dark period, and we'd better be prepared.

Jos 1:11 Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare (make) preparation, prepare (self), provide, make provision, (be, make) ready) you victuals (meat, provision, venison, victuals); for within three days (day, (full) year) ye shall pass (deliver, escape) over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God giveth you to possess it.

Pro 30:25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

Isa 21:5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. Prepare food, keep alert watching for what's coming. Then eat and drink to keep up your strength. Then get up, stand up and anoint with the oil of the Holy Spirit the shield of faith. First comes physical preparation and then come spiritual readiness. They go together.

We are told to watch. Why would one watch for danger? For the purpose of being prepared.:

Mar 13:33
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Mar 13:35
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:

Luk 12:38
And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

Act 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

1Th 5:6
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Prepared:

Luk 12:46-47
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. The servant KNEW his Master's will, but decided NOT to prepare anyway, but did what he wanted. What did he get? Punishment. That is what will happen to those Christians who blithely go about their feel-good, rapture-gonna-happen-before-anything-bad-does, gonna-be-rich lives.

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Noah was NOT moved by physical fear, but by fear of the Lord. Fear of the Lord causes us to be obedient. God told Noah to build an ark and prepare and Noah obeyed.

Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. This is Israel that flees to a place God has prepared for her.

If you are just realizing that you need to get prepared, and realize that the window of opportunity to prepare may be closing, you can get prepared in one fell-swoop. I'm going to share some links to information that will help you get prepared if you don't have the time to run around shopping and organizing and hoping you don't forget something.

To add some freeze dried foods, requires no cooking: Freeze Dried Food

For dehydrated foods that you can't do at home: Dehydrated Foods

Perhaps you've been preparing, but most of your food is in metal cans or glass canning jars. What are you going to do if the Holy Spirit leads you to bugout before the destruction of your home or city? Remember Lot was led out just ahead of the destruction of his city. Having a supply of lightweight nutritious meals in a couple of go bags or bugout bags might be a very wise idea.

God Provides Needs Daily

I have found the faithfulness of God a true blessing as I rely on Him to "husband" me and provide for my needs.

When I decided that I wanted to raise rabbits as a source of meat both now and for the troubled times ahead, I had very little money. However, two months later I have a complete rabbit-raising facility. I used Freecycle to obtain my first hutch...the miracle being that they delivered it to me!

I obtained several of my rabbits free thru Freecycle or Craigslist. I found more hutches for very cheap, but they definitely needed some intense TLC. That was going to require some 2x2's and 2x4's, which I didn't really have the funds to buy.

Again the Lord provided. A house near my place was being gutted and remodled and there was a huge pile of lumber in the front yard. Figuring nothing ventured nothing gained, I stopped and inquired about the wood and was told I could have it all. Since I don't have a truck I offered my neighbors the opportunity to have some lumber if we could split the load. They were thrilled and I ended up with a pile of lumber that I'm still working on using up.

I still wanted to build a 3-hole hutch that I'd designed for my needs and the yard. However I needed some 2x4 or 4x4 sheeting...again the Lord provided via Freecycle when someone offered some castoff lumber from residing their place.

While all of this may seem a bit trivial to some, I have found that my Heavenly Father is interested in every aspect of my life. He takes care of my needs as promised, sometimes providing even before I ask. Start the adventure of asking the Lord to be involved in your life. Nothing is too small for His attention.

This type of relationship will become even more important as the rest of the world is reeling from the economic turmoil and a depression that many are speculating will be worse than the 1930's. There is a promise of provision in the Bible that I stand on every day: "My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Glory".

You see it's based on His riches...not on the failing dollar, the inflationary price of gold or the current job market.

He knows what you have need of before you even ask...so ask.

Just remember it's your needs He will supply, not your wants.

Sounds of Silence

Someone on a Christian Tribulation preparedness group posted a link to an article about the possible sinister purpose of the sudden Governmental-imposed switch to HDTV. Talking about the mind-control potential, constant subliminal messaging being fed directly into our homes as a way of control the population.

Interestingly enough there was some comment about the device being used on the television broadcasts of during the recent presidential race. Could account for the almost overwhelming worship of the candidate who won.

I visited the website and a couple of things bothered me about the undercurrent of the article. While I believe in all likelihood there is some truth to the allegations, I wondered about the source. This blog is published out of France, and the over all philosophy is very anti-God, anti-Israel and very pro-self.

The emotion triggered by the article was fear. Fear that that our government could really do this...fear that we won't have control...fear. Believers should all be aware that fear is an evil spirit ever looking for an opportunity to attack. The Word says: "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, and of power, and of a sound mind."

That is the scripture that I am going to be standing on..."a sound mind" is what God has given me. I do not need to fear what the evil ones may try to do. I'm reminded that "they shall dig a pit and fall into it."

Here are some scriptures about our minds, and why I believe that if we, as Believers, will arm/shield ourselves with the Word of God, then we have nothing to fear from this device...of course, sitting for hours in front of the television is NOT the way to protect your mind and arm yourself.

Isa 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. I believe if we will stay focused on Jesus Christ that we will have peace and a "steady" (a "sustained" "established") mind

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. We have to make sure we love God with our mind as well as our heart. It's not an emotional, just on Sunday experience. Our mind must be a rooted and grounded in the love of God

Mar 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

Luk 8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. The battlefield of the devil and demons/evil spirits is the mind. I believe that much of this technology is simply a physical way to open a doorway for entrance by spirits. Just as a sudden and intense physical trauma can be an open doorway to fear, pain and other spirits, is it possible that this "silent" weapon is only a tool. This is even more likely when one considers this verse: Rev 17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We must continually be alert and actively renewing our mind in the Word of God.

Php 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. If our mind is NOT being renewed in the Word, the end will be destruction because we are focusing on the wrong things.

1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; "gird up the loins of your mind" ... "gird up"...I'm reminded of the old tv shows where the gunslinger would be heading for a showdown and would adjust his gunbelt and settle it more firmly around his hips. That is really what "gird up" means and "loins" literally means "the creative force"...so we are being told to "get ready for battle by donning the creative force that is our mind and to watch (be sober)".

I don't know if this will help anyone else. But it has helped me know that what I suspected and wondered about (why would the government be so concerned about my television viewing pleasure) and to know that my decision to NOT get the box and to disconnect my satellite tv last week, just might have been the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Whatever...I am NOT going to fear what man can do, I am sheltered under the shadow of the Almighty.
