A Destroying Wind

Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind; (Jer 51:1)

No one can deny that the anti-God, anti-Christian elements in the United States have risen up against God. Here we are heading into a season that traditionally has represented Christ, but now is a season marked by greed, commercialism, and an x-ing out of any mention of Christ. It should not be any surprise that God has had it with this country and the "wild winds" that destroyed homes, trees, vehicles, fences and other property, might be His response.

When you hear newscaster and weathermen describe seemingly "natural" weather phenomenon as "unusual", "unprecedented", "monster" in describing "hurricane force winds" of upwards of 120 to 140 miles per hour in some places, then you could say they were describing a "destroying wind."

Here are just a few of the headlines for the "destroying" winds that struck the western US yesterday, December 1, 2011:

'Monster Winds' Roar Across Utah; California Also Whipped

Strong Winds Down Trees and Power Lines in West

Strong winds hit southern California, Pasadena declares state of emergency

100 mph winds buffet Utah, toppling trucks, trees, power lines

And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about. (Jer 51:2)

What's a "fanner"?

A primitive root; to turn aside (especially for lodging); hence to be a foreigner, strange, profane; specifically (active participle) to commit adultery: - (come from) another (man, place), fanner, go away, (e-) strange (-r, thing, woman).

So here the Word says that God will send foreigners that will "fan"

A primitive root (compare H2114); to toss about; by implication to diffuse, winnow: - cast away, compass, disperse, fan, scatter (away), spread, strew, winnow.

God will send foreigners that will disperse/scatter away/strew - in other words cause a disruption of life as it is known and "empty her land"

A primitive root; to pour out, that is, to empty, figuratively to depopulate; by analogy to spread out (as a fruitful vine): - (make) empty (out), fail, X utterly, make void.

Notice the "depopulate"

If as I and many prophecy watchers believe, that Jeremiah 51 is a dual prophecy talking about Ancient Babylon as well as describing a future type of Babylon, and that the US may be that Babylon, then we need to pay attention to this.

Is this what's coming? Are foreigners going to empty our land, many believe it's coming...or maybe it's already happening as more and more "foreigners" sneak into our country some wanting a new life, others coming for nefarious, criminal and terroristic reasons.

What's next?
